I got the tired-of-waking-up-alone blues
I think I caught the blues bug that's been floating around LJ recently. I didn't know you could catch something through your email, but this might be the first computer-human bug transfer in history.
Weekend was boring. Went through the motions of getting stuff done, and I actually managed to get a lot of household crap out of the way. For a while, there was actually no more dishes on my counter. People who have seen my kitchen will understand the impact of that last statement. I was bored to tears, and it seems everybody had plans. It's not often that I feel seriously bored, as I can usually entertain myself pretty well, but this weekend was not one of those.
I'm in a rather shitty mood today, which I think hit its lowest point last night when I was talking to M. When you're moody, talking to someone who's insanely chipper just makes you want to reach out and kill someone. Conversation topics really didn't help either… anyway. I didn't make an issue of it, because I know I'm in a funk and it's not my normal state of mind. Maybe
Anyway, I should get started on my day.
hohum
Just finished sanding the second coat of plaster on my kitchen walls. I was smarter this time, and taped the shower curtain to the walls for a tighter seal. I also pinned towels to the bottom of the curtain to close off the foot-high gap between the lower edge and the floor. As soon as the dust settles, I'll go vacuum the dust and clean the walls and I'll be ready to paint :)
In other news, I'm bored as hell. Anybody want to come over for dinner? If you can reach my cell phone, you're invited.
I'm such a dweeb
The weekend is here, and this is a good thing. Near the end of the day, I found out that all my weekend plans were shot to hell, which is always fun to learn. I was supposed to go have brunch with Michel tomorrow, but he's gone to Niagara for a few days. Impromptu vacation with his Isa – I wish him fun. Things are going really well for those two, I'm really glad about that. We could have had dinner tonight, but I had eaten a late lunch was uber tired so I took a raincheck for mid next week when he comes back.
Spent a good part of the afternoon writing documentation. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's that. Documentation is the pits, and my brain was leaking out of my ears when 6pm rolled by. Met up with moonlightjoy, who was a bit down in the dumps, for a quick pint before heading home. We had a good chat, which I think did both of us some good (well, it made me laugh, anyway) and then we parted ways. She was going to meet friends at a show, I headed home for a nap.
When I got home, i decided to forego the nap in lieu of a light movie. Since nobody could/wanted to go see HP3, I postponed it for now (cause I really, really hate seeing movies alone and both eniran and moonlightjoy said they wanted to see it, but couldn't tonight). I still felt like a movie though, so I indulged in a Sherlock Holmes flick I bought this week. There are 5 movies in the DVD set, and I watched the first one tonight, The hound of the Baskervilles.
I've always loved Sherlock Holmes (remember the book project), and I've read all the canonical stories, as well as many others. I'm a serious Holmes trivia addict too, so seeing the original movies was so good :)
Elementary, my dear Watson :D
A bit of silliness for the end of the week
Real Instructions That Sound Like Sexual Innuendos

This is beyond fucking ridiculous
Ever had to fight with a bank for them to take your money?
That's the situation I'm in right now. I took out two loans to contribute to my RRSPs this year. I took them with the national bank of canada, and they are the preferred partner for Investor's Group (my financial planners). I love my account manager at IG. He's a great guy. Never had a glitch with him. The bank people are fully-qualified idiots. Nimrods of the greatest caliber. Every time I want to pay back something, it's an exercise in pain and stupidity.
I have to waste my time to try and convince them to take my money.
Ahem, fuck that.
My video club is now open
Heya guys and gals.
I put my DVD list up to date. I keep one mostly for insurance purposes, as I've learned it's always easier to get a claim processed when you have the whole list of what you had†. Pictures are also invaluable :D
The fringe benefit of this is that I now run a DVD club from my apartment. If you can see this list, it means I trust you to let you to borrow one, watch it at your leisure, and bring it back to me. As long as it's noted in the whiteboard in my kitchen, it's all good :P

Harry Potter Movie
I want to go see the new HP movie tonight. It's playing at the paramount ( 6:30, 7:00, 7:15, 7:40).
Any takers? I hate seeing movies alone, but I want to see this one.
heehee… now lets see. Who do I desire?
My lunch meeting
Had lunch with my boss today.
Things went well, actually. We both aired our grievances, and what came out of it basically was we realized we'd had a communication breakdown, a situation we both agreed to work on. Other than that, he's still really happy with my work, which is always a good thing to know.
On a slightly more sobering note, when I asked about the overall state of the company, I was told that our financial situation is precarious, and that this might be our 3-month warning to start putting our CVs back up to date. He's optimistic about the long-term survival of the company, but he was simply giving me a heads up.
Anyway, it was a good lunch overall, and I'm feeling much better about my position in the company, so I'm a happy camper. For now, at least :)
