Tonight as curry night at the Grogan residence. Chicken curry and cauliflower curry and basmati rice. In a word, NUMMY! We're in Leicester for the weekend, so Katy can bond with Jeff, pick up some more things to bring back to Cambridge and generally cause we felt like it :)
Walked around the city center today. I bought some really loverly wood roses to add a splash of colour to the apartment without the onus of having to actually take care of a living plant. We're going to go to B&Q tomorrow so I can fiddle with a plan to make a tabletop zen garden. Those things are really cute, completely useless and therefore I want one. I will not however pay £20 for basically a box filled with sand; not when I have two hands and half a brain to make my own.
Katy, Rita and I went to see “Hitchhiker's guide to the galazy” at the cinema tonight. Good movie, I'm probably going to buy it when it comes out on DVD cause there are a ton of inside jokes that I know I missed.
Rita is a tough nut to crack. I've been in social situations with her for a few times now and I still don't know if she likes me or not. Hell, I have no idea what she thinks of me. Ever tried to engage somebody in conversation that just doesn't seem interested in talking to you? I do my best, cause she's Katy's best friend, it's just a bit frustrating and I have no idea how to deal with it.
Yes I do. I had a friend, we were getting close…then this girlfriend shows up…I think she hates me. Perhaps she's just an abrasive bitch to everyone.

I've had a friend like that too. Turns out she just forgets to let you know she's paying attention. And you'd be surprised how much culture can play a role in how you expect a person to react. Just keep being your wonderful self and you'll figure it out soon enough.

awwwww, gawrsh :D

I don't think she hates me. I think she… I don't know what I think.

*nods* well this chick loathes me :) but it is awkward being around someone who seems to be putting up with you, barely.

it's not a question of “putting up”, more of complete and total ignorance. It's like I'm not there at all…

Hello my British friend!!! On the Rita thing, try to put yourself in her shoes and walk a mile in it…
If I'm not mistaken, she's Katy's best friend and both of them used to be together all the time and she (Rita) used to be Katy's number one (now she's number two after you), they probably even went to school together (I'm guessing here). Now Katy's in love (with you I hope) and therefore she has less time for Rita (wich is totally normal) even more, she is living with you, wich I guess is a long way from Rita house.
It's normal behavior for her to feel a little akward around you, after all you replaced her in Katy's life (in some strange way) and worse your some strange dude from some strange country Katy met online, wich is probably suspicious for her.
My advice to you is simple, be yourself, don't try to over-compensate by being overly nice to her and by always trying to engage conversation. Just give her some space and some time to heal and if she comes around, she comes around and if not, it's no biggy, you can't always please everybody.

Sorry, I didn't spell-check…

just about what I was thinking. I'm not really fussed, but it's Katy who's more peeved.
