I made a bacon, leek, mushroom and cheese quiche last night. For those of you who think that real men don't eat quiche, well, think of it as a pig-and-egg pie and grow up.

Because, apparently, there's a need for clarification
Katy and I have no short-term plans to get married.
Harry Potter Mania
I just finished reading the latest Harry Potter book this morning on the bus to work. I'm impressed – compared to the last 2 books, it's quite well written and the storyline is solid. I'm really looking forward to the last book in the series, but that'll probably be in a few years now.
I've been giggling a bit to myself lately because people seem to be losing their collective minds over this book. The tin-foil hat brigade is out big-time online to try and figure out what's going to happen in the last book. I've also been amused at the antics of people who try and piss off the most people by randomly posting spoilers online. Hell, there have even been reported incidents of “drive-by spoilage” where people drive by bookstores and yell stuff out their car windows. Gotta love the fandom and the fan-bashers :)
Oh, while I'm thinking of it, does anybody in Montreal have my copy of Order of the Phoenix? I can't seem to find it here and it's aggravating me to no extent :(
hee hee hee
I just called Katy a sock-tease :D
This weekend
Back in Cambs after a weekend in Leicester. Spent a good part of Saturday shopping for cute undies for Katy and going to see her gran in the hospital. To lift her spirits, we talked about our future wedding (apparently, we've been told we need to get married). The concensus is that we need to have a small ceremony to save money for a house. Oh, and there needs to be a horse-drawn carriage (though I'm not too chuffed about my tux smelling like horse manure).
Besides that, I've been trying to sneak away and read bits and pieces of the latest Harry Potter book, which Katy bought for me. THANKS SWEETIE!
One year ago today…
…someone new appeared in my life.
Who could have thunk it, that one year later, I'd be writing this entry in Merry Ole England.
All because of my cat.
Edit: Nat had sent me pics earlier in the week. I finally had the time to scan a few. So, for all of you, here's my kitty:
Pope Palpatine XVI scares me.
BERLIN – Pope Benedict believes the Harry Potter books subtly seduce young readers and “distort Christianity in the soul” before it can develop properly, according to comments attributed to him by a German writer.
Some days feel like this
I want this day to eb over
I'm not having the best of days today. So far, I've done nothing productive. Not one damn thing. While trying to fix a small annoying bug, I managed to bring down the whole framework I'd been working on. I don't know how I did it but it takes talent to kill a whole server. *grumbles* I got everything back up and running, but the bug is still there. Since this is something only a small number of people use and very infrequently at that, it's going to on the backburner cause there are more important things to deal with. This was supposed to be a quick fix but ended up wasting the better part of my day.
What's also aggravating me is that I need to get a test version up and running so that we can beat the shit out of it with functional tests before it goes live. Unfortunately, it won't deploy. It should. Everything is there for it to be up and running. It just doesn't want to. Fuck it, I'm going for coffee.
On my own
Katy went to Leicester on monday to visit her gran, who's in the hospital right now. She's back tomorrow, but right now I miss my sweetie.
