I took Not-my-dog with me to my doc appointment in St-Sulpice. I’ve done it before and the doc loves her. We were early today so we shared a croissant on a nearby park bench, before she went on a full-on charm offensive with a tennis ball.
I love that dog
I was dogsitting NMD from Thursday to Sunday, on my (mostly) lonesome while Katy is away. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love that dog. She’s really good for my mental health. She forces me to go on twice-daily walks and run around like a nutter with a frisbee and a squeaky tennis ball.
Normally when we have dogs over, Katy sleeps in the guest bedroom to be around the dog, while the cats are self-isolating in our bedroom. This time, the guest bedroom has been turned into Ben’s 2nd (gaming) room so I slept on the sofa. Wasn’t as horrible as I expected it to be. Even though I’m not sleeping well anyways these days, it was…. OK.
I love the fact she climbed up on the sofa with me this morning. Enough so that I made her breakfast in bed :)
She’s gone back home now, and I’m in my big (empty) bed.
Edit: a few more day-sits for NMD
And at one point I thought I was going to need to wade into the lake.
And now I can breathe
We’ve been working on a big, BIG, presentation for work for the last couple of weeks. Today, it’s been presented to top management of our institute and one of our partner businesses. It was only a 5 minute pitch with 10 minutes for questions.
I was remote for the meeting because I think I’m coming down with something but I dressed to impress, even if only the upper half :)
I’ve been bricking it all week, but it went well. I’d practiced my pitch, and I don’t think I messed up anything beyond an unexpected cough. I was happy when one of our stakeholders sent me this by email afterwards:
“BTW good job ā one of the only projects [HEAD OF FOOD BUSINESS] complimented that was very clear and aligned š”
That’s me done for today. I’m beat, and I want coffee (and maybe a glass of wine after 5pm).
Zoo de la Garenne
Last year, Ben came here with his scout troup to do some volunteering. This weekend, he strongarmed me to take him. We saw wolves and lynxes, boars and deer, owls and birds of prey. Ben saw his spirit goose.
Hope it’s not a sign of things to come
January felt like 2021 condensed into a whole month.
So much for asking 2022 to be kind to us.
So far, it’s been a month-long kick in the… teeth.
NMD has gone home
My leg has gone numb
Nature walk with NMD
We took the car to drive up to the arboretum in Aubonne. It was a nice, if chilly, walk.
