Katy’s always wanted a round kitchen table. We upcycled one from Facebook marketplace. Old school solid wood and extensible. Gave it a damn good sanding then two coats of mat black that, in this heat, only took 5 minutes to dry. The top is still the same color of untreated wood, that’s only a poor lighting artefact. Now we need to sand and paint the chairs to match.

Knife forging, part 2
Knife forging, part 1
Spent the morning forging the rough shape, finished up after lunch, then did the 1st grinding and getting it ready for the quench and thermocycling. After the heat treatment and relaxing, we started on the profiling grinds, and then it was time to leave.
Part 2 will be in a couple of weeks, when we finish the grinds, then polish, sharpen and paracord wrap.

Fact 1 – NMD and her human have moved to Lausanne, where the humans are a lot more finicky about leash laws
Fact 2 – It’s been super hot these past few weeks, and Katy likes to dunk NMD in the lake to cool her off.
Fact 3 – Leash laws mean that Katy has to go in the lake with NMD
Fact 4 – Katy doesn’t like walking with wet shoes
So what to do?
Break out the ingenuity! We ordered 5m of strapping from AliExpress, and some hardware bits from Hornbach. I then spent an hour or so breaking out my mad sewing skills, and the end produxt has been tested in anger today and the results are promising!

Updated Holmes
I wasn’t completely happy with one of the previous Sherlock Holmes pictures I made a few days ago, so I tinkered with it and I’m much happier with how this one came out.
