January felt like 2021 condensed into a whole month.
So much for asking 2022 to be kind to us.
So far, it’s been a month-long kick in the… teeth.

I retired the countdown to my burthday/countdown to christmas widget on the blog’s full (non-mobile) theme. The main reason is that it’s been a couple of years since I’ve felt festive for either occasion :( Sad, but true.
We hoped to be able to delay the inevitable for a couple of days to try and spoil him rotten, but it wasn’t in the cards. His back legs were still paralysed. It wouldn’t get better. If by a 2nd miracle it did, it would most certainly happen again, god knows when. He wasn’t in pain, but he couldn’t stand to eat or drink. When we brought him home so Ben could say goodbye to him, he had a bit of fuss but then dragged himself into a cat cave.
In the end, Pavel fell asleep on my hand, with my forehead to his. It was painless for him, but heartbreaking for me. We did the right thing, for the right reasons. We’ll get through it. But right now, it sucks.
Last night, Katy and I (sever times) : do you have anything to do for this morning?
Ben: no.
This morning, Ben : I have math and German stuff to finish for today.
Me : but you said last night that you didn’t have anything.
Ben : No!!!! I said so, but you ignored me, like you always do.
…..
Ben : I don’t understand how to do this
Me : trying to explain.
Ben : NO!!!! THAT’S NOT HOW WE DO IT!

So, last November, I entered a Facebook contest to win a pair of Bose noise cancelling headphones from Interdiscount, and honestly promptly forgot about it.
And then I saw this on Dec 31st, in my Facebook messenger spam folder.
Deadline passed, prize awarded to next winner as per T&Cs, so sorry.
#fuck2020
The Schilliger Xmas display was cute but a bit subdued compared to previous years. Given how shite 2020 has been, it’s a bit hard to work up a full heas of seasonal cheery steam. We’ve decided to push back our flight to the UK from December to next July, in the hopes that things will have improved by then and we won’t need to quarantine on both ends. We’ll be here for Swissmas. Pray that we don’t kill each other. Ho ho oy.
