Bean and a couple of boys from the building found a kingfisher with a broken wing. We bundled it up in a box and took it to the local bird rescue shelter. Hope it makes it. It has a beautiful plumage.

Now that’s a piston
That’s the drivetrain for the paddleboat steamer La Suisse.
Fireworks, with music
I was taking pictures of the fireworks yesterday when I actually managed to completely fill up the memory card. Having a motor-driven camera will do that when you’re not paying attention. When the camera died, I started filming on my phone. After a bit of post-processing, I’m not dissatisfied with the end prpduct :)
Suisse national day
Watching the fireworks from a paddleboat steamer on the lake, fantabulous. Almost getting blown up by an amateur firework on the dock, scary as fuck.
There were tons of random people letting off fireworks along the lake. As I was walking towards the metro, one of them misfired and headed towards the crowd. It exploded about 2 metres in front of me and turned a potted palm tree into an impromptu bonfire. Seriously, not cool.

Best way to start your day
A new bistro, Café Fellatio, will offer men a deal where they can have a coffee and oral sex.
The unique offer will be available at the café, which is due to open in Geneva at the end of the year. Patrons will be able to order a coffee and then select a lady using an iPad, said Facegirl, the firm that plans to set up the café. It said it was copying similar popular cafés in Thailand.
Bradley Chavet, from Facegirl, told Swiss newspaper Le Matin that men will be able to order a drink and then make themselves comfortable at the café’s bar.
He added: “In five or ten minutes, it’s all over.” The full service will make the coffee one of the most expensive in the city – and probably Europe – at 60chf. There will also be an additional five franc surplus for the drink.

150 years of Nestle
Last Friday, Nestle threw an intimate little gathering for its Swiss employees. All of them. They closed *all* of the Swiss production lines for one day to ensure that people could come. Between 8000 and 9000 people showed up at the Palais de Beaulieu, in Lausanne. Everything was catered: transport from all over Switzerland, locally sourced food and beer/wine, and a full roster of Swiss performers. I left early, because I was starting to feel crappy (ended up with a full-blown case of man flu over the weekend) but apparently it was a blast.
