Katy summed it up perfectly
The tulips are coming up nicely, but there are still lots of closed blooms still left to open up.
The lake has been really hazy the last few times I’ve been out, but still really peaceful to listen to.
The beaver is a proud and noble animal
Notes from a bemused canuck
Has our first date day in a loooong time. Unfortunately, it started out with a frustrating 2h wait/argument at Barclays Bank to try and sort out a bank fuck-up on their part (still unresolved), but it finished with Wagamama and cocktails so it’s all good.
6 oz tomato juice
1 1/2 oz vodka
1 tsp wasabi paste (or less to taste)
1 tap balsamic vinegar
freshly ground black pepper and sea salt to taste
dash of hot sauce
ice
cucumber wedge and lime wedge for garnish
Also, random fox and gang signs :
We walked into town to have a bit of quiet adult time. We met up with the oldies and youngun just before the movie – we’d booked to see the latest Star Wars and then we went to Wagamama’s for dinner. I got tots emosh with the movie. Now my belly is full and I’m enjoying coffee and a timbit because, random, a Tim Horton opened in Leicester. I just realized that between having found a source of poutine cheese in Switzerland and timbits in the UK, there’s no longer a need for me to go back to Canada!
We had big plans for drinks, dinner, cocktails and cigars. But then real life interfered. Katy was tired, the weather was shit and I had a less-than-stellar day at work.
But this is why I love my wife. She said it was OK to just crash at home, open a nice bottle of wine, order in a pizza and just watch the Great British Bake Off. And everything just worked.
I love my wifey. And I probably don’t tell her often enough.
Katy and I managed to wangle some private time yesterday and had a long-overdue date. We did a spot of shopping, shared a teriyaki chicken donburi bowl and some beef tataki at Wagamama’s (the pink peppercorn in the G&T didn’t do it for me), then we got mildly tipsy at 45 West, with gin cocktails and cheese&onion crisps. What dreams are made of…
The grown-ups can have some quality adult time.
Ben was at scout camp this weekend so – after shopping – we were able to go into Lausanne and have a (small) beer, share a basket of sliders and proper chips at a pub before going to see Captain Marvel.
Today, we went to Apero World and shared a G&T and a really big plate of antipasti.
It’s encouraging to know that even post-surgery, we can still enjoy foodie things like this.
