Sangria infusing, meat marinating, veggies prepped. Just need to prep some burgers and then we’re ready for company.

Great ending to the week
I let my proverbial hair completely down for the first time in a while last night. I was doubly celebrating the successful end of a 6 month work project, and the official announcement of my transfer to the new digital nutrition research group at work.
Radovan bodged together a hacker charbonnade grill and I marinated some porc loin and skirt steak. The post-mortem this morning included 2kg of meat, 2 packs of sausages, charcuterie, grilled melons and pineapple, 3 bottles of wine, 2 bottles of prosecco (and unfortunately, a bit of a technicolour incident around 2am).
I needed this!
Can hardly contain my enthusiasm
What have I done so far on my birthday? I woke up late, which is always good. Then I went hog crazy and did a couple of loads of laundry, folded said laundry, vacuumed and mopped the floors, and watered the plants.
I am now chilling on the sofa with a glass of coke, a cat and a book. I could do worse. Missing my family though.
Missing my family
Something I need to realize more often
You shall not pass
Got a trifecta of lies last night
Katy and I went on a date
For only the second time in this trip, Katy and I were able to go on a proper date. Bobble chaperoned. We went to Coast to Coast for burgers and drinks.
Bad move. I don’t think we’ll be going there again. The service was sloooow. Kind, but glacially slow. The food was also very average. All in all, it was disappointing and left me feeling a bit queasy. A pootle around Leicester town and a good poo sorted me out, and then we were good to go see Ghostbusters. Really. Good. Movie!
They managed to surprise me
Mel, grab a pack with two green ones.
They don’t have any. Two blue, but not two green.
You mean to tell me that your sponges are color coded?!?
Of course.
*silence*
What about these ones, they have two green ones in the pack.
They’re the wrong type.
*confusion*
Later…
So what do you guys do when you come to ours and have no sponges? Bring your own?
Don’t give mother any ideas. The suitcases are heavy enough as it is.
Bedmates for tonight
Katy is sleeping in London tonight, in preparation for her 10k run tomorrow (have I mentioned how proud of her I am? Cause, dang, I’m proud of her!). Ben didn’t want me to get lonely, sleeping alone tonight. So this was his brilliant plan.
Damn bear is an even bigger bed hog than Katy is.
At least he won’t snore.
