Christmas dinner
Tonight was my first “new team” holiday gathering. I’d volunteered to organise something and, with a bit of help from my friends, I think we pulled it off. We had Chinese hot pot, with a cubic buttload of food. The overall comments from the evening were very positive and everyone seemed to eat, drink and be merry. I hope we’ve started a new team tradition :-) Even though the day started off on a bit of a rocky footing, with the venue saying thy hadn’t received the payment to release the keys, I’m glad it ended up going very well and people enjoyed themselves. I’m going to bed with a full tummy, a slightly addled brain and a smile on my face. Good day indeed.

Setting priorities
Well that’s a good sign!
I’ve started hacking in python and, for a long time java developer as myself, a lot of the language constructs are… odd. I’ve been trying to get my hear around inheritance and constructor calls all afternoon. I finally made some headway and was thinking of how I was going to make it all work tomorrow. Then I realised that tomorrow was Saturday, and I was sad for a moment.

Multitasking doesn’t work
The truth is, effective multitasking is an oxymoron. Research has shown that your brain can only process one activity at a time.
